Trash Trucks

Trash trucks come in many forms to handle your garbage needs.

Trash trucks are a necessary commodity if you’re planning on starting any sort of trash service, or just doing a massive amount of spring cleaning.  But there are a variety of different trash trucks, all of which operate in very different ways.  Educating yourself about them, and seeing which will work best for you is the only way to determine your ideal choice.  Because of the way each truck controls differently, this will greatly affect how trash is collected when using that type.

Of the most popular garbage trucks, one of the more common is the front loader.  A front loader has two large strips of metal that jut out from the front of the cab.  The trash truck uses these almost like a forklift, to scoop up large trash bins and dump them into the trash compressor behind the cab.  This truck is especially useful if you’re using large trash bins for gathering the trash, as a front loader can quickly, and easily take care of them.

Another one of the more popular is the rear trash loader truck.  Rear loaders don’t have a mechanism like a front loader in order to automatically drop trash into it’s compartments.  Rather, a rear loader requires personnel to physically dump the trash cans into the trash truck.  This means emptying smaller trash bins is much easier, but also that you will have to either hire employees to handle the trash, or pick up the trash yourself.

A roll-off truck is another type of trash trucks that is not so very unlike a dump truck.  A roll-off features a large compartment on the back, behind the cab, that can be rolled onto the ground.  Then the bin is used for trash, and once the bin is full a roll-off truck can then roll the bin back up onto the truck for transport.  This is especially convenient for very large jobs, as the huge bins are useful for throwing away a lot of trash over a long period of time.

The fourth of the most popular trash trucks is a side loader.  This is traditionally used in residential neighborhoods, in which a trash company will lease trash bins that are then emptied once a week.  The side loader pulls up beside a trash can, and an arm mechanism juts out to lift the trash bin over the trash compartment on the back.  Sometimes these require an additional operator in addition to the driver, so that the trash bin can be moved into the correct position to be grabbed by the mechanical arm.

Dump trucks can also be used to double as trash trucks, and are fairly useful as such, but only if you have an exceptionally large trash hall.  Also because of a dump truck’s size, they usually aren’t allowed in more residential areas, so this isn’t a good solution unless you’re out of city limits.  Trash trucks are widely available for sale or lease, and you should have no problem finding one, no matter the job you’re planning to tackle.
